Carlos Alcaraz clinched his maiden French Open title following an intense five-set showdown with Alexander Zverev. The 21-year-old Spaniard, already a US Open and Wimbledon champion, fought back from two sets to one down to defeat Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in a gruelling match that lasted over four hours on the famed Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The match was a testament to Alcaraz's tenacity and skill, as he faced numerous challenges throughout the game. His ability to maintain composure and execute crucial shots under pressure was key to his victory. The win not only added a prestigious French Open title to his growing list of achievements but also solidified his status as one of the leading players in modern tennis.

After four hours and 19 minutes, the Parisian crowd welcomed a new champion as Alcaraz followed in the footsteps of his compatriot Rafael Nadal, who holds a record 14 French Open titles. The third seed secured the win with a cross-court forehand on championship point, which Zverev could only return into the net, prompting Alcaraz to collapse to the clay in joy.
"When I finished school, I turned on the TV just to watch this tournament, and now I’m lifting the trophy in front of all of you, so thank you very much for the whole journey," Alcaraz expressed. "The crowd has been amazing since the first match. Your support has been incredible, not just during matches but in practice as well. I feel at home here. You made this tournament special, and I’ll see you soon."

Alcaraz burst out of the gates, breaking Zverev in the first game. However, the Germans quickly levelled the score. Alcaraz broke to love at 3-2 and confidently took the first set with a powerful forehand winner.
Zverev, determined to level the match, took control in the second set. He broke Alcaraz's serve at 3-2 after the Spaniard misfired a forehand. Uncharacteristically, Alcaraz double-faulted to give Zverev a double-break cushion, which the German capitalized on with a forehand winner, levelling the match at one set apiece.
